Jane Hayes Receives MLLLA Award

WRC Board Member Jane Hayes was honored on May 21st, 2025, with the first ever WRC Mary Lee Lord Legacy Award. Check out this special moment at our event HERE.

Mary Lee Lord, a former WRC Executive Director (1999-2006), was a beloved community leader and has been described as the person who made it “okay for our community to talk openly about the issue of Domestic Violence.” This honor recognizes a community leader who embodies the traits of Mary Lee, including her spirit, leadership, humility, kindness, inner strength and her ability to affect change in our community.

Jane has volunteered her time as a board member and/or contributor to organizations like Dann’s House, Northwest Michigan Supportive Housing, the Michigan Board of Social Work, Northern Lakes Community Mental Health, Munson Medical Center, and the TCAPS School Board. She is a past Chair and current WRC Board Member and also coordinated and established the first Domestic Violence Task Force in Leelanau County.
